Once the design was reviewed, modified, and approved, we turned to another long-time supporter of ours, Ben Deane of KC Printhouse Company, to do the printing. This left the job of folding (and pasting covers to the front and back) to be completed. Dan was willing to volunteer his time to do this, but it would have been an enormous task for one person. Fortunately, we are blessed with people who support us not only with their treasure, but with their service. Eighteen people from Lakeland Community Church spent five hours pasting and folding.
That’s a lot of time for people to give up on a Sunday after church, but that particular Sunday was the day the Kansas City Chiefs played the Jacksonville Jaguars. These mission-oriented football fans made a party out of the event. A big-screen TV was erected and they passed the time folding and pasting while their team won the game, 17 to 9. To be sure, they took occasional breaks, but they love to help the ministries they support and this was a huge help.
Ben provided all of the components needed for the job, including special glue. He gave the volunteers an orientation, then broke them into groups. Even after the game ended, they remained until they had folded 2,500 brochures. They weigh 49-lbs!
Dignity:Liberia attended the FIGO World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics Conference for the first time this year and had the capacity to distribute 500 brochures per day.
A thank you to all who pitched in and helped. Your service saved Dignity:Liberia $4,000, which is what it would have cost us to pay a company to do the work.
Please take a moment to look through pictures of the folding event, and watch the video of the brochure unfolding.
